Vael’s Reach is the name given to the oldest suspended walkway system in the capital, a network of bridges and platforms that effectively roofs the lower streets. Beneath it, in permanent shadow, communities have cultivated bioluminescent organisms that provide a soft, constant glow. The Underlight district runs on this natural radiance — its markets, its residences, its gathering spaces all lit by the slow pulse of living light. Those who live here develop a particular relationship with darkness, and their clothing reflects it: dark fabrics threaded with reactive filaments that brighten or dim in response to the organism-light, creating a constant quiet dialogue between wearer and environment.
