The civilisation responsible for the corridor network is conventionally referred to as the Ancients. The designation reflects absence of verified identity rather than reverence. No confirmed name, origin system, or surviving lineage has been recovered.

They were not deities, metaphysical abstractions, or mythic constructs. All available evidence indicates a material civilisation operating within physical law. They were technological and finite.

The corridors were constructed millions of years prior to the current era of Legarune. Their placement, scale, and energy signatures indicate deliberate engineering undertaken at extraordinary cost and with long-term intent. The network was not accidental, emergent, or naturally occurring.

Confirmed capabilities include:

• Spacetime engineering beyond the present limits of interstellar civilisation.

• Applied mastery of gravity manipulation, quantum field dynamics, and large-scale cosmological structuring.

• The ability to stabilise folded spacetime regions and embed permanent transit geometries within stellar environments.

There is no evidence of their continued activity. No transmissions, expansions, or maintenance signatures attributable to the builders have been detected within recorded history.

Critical uncertainties remain:

• Whether the civilisation was biological, synthetic, hybrid, or post-physical in structure.

• Whether it vanished, collapsed, transcended its material form, withdrew deliberately, or was extinguished.
